Welcome to Our Class!

I invite you to be a partner in your child's education!

Welcome to Mrs. Whidbee's 4th grade class at Central Elementary School.  We have a very busy and exciting year in store for us! In our 4th grade classroom, all students will enjoy a rigorous, challenging program that is engaging and appropriate for addressing each individual student’s needs. Your child will work toward meeting and exceeding state standards and toward acquiring the tools/skills necessary for his/her future, academically and otherwise. Each student will have the opportunity to develop his/her academic skills and knowledge through our reading and math programs and a wide variety of literature, hands-on activities, historical resources, scientific inquiry, manipulatives, and technology. Students will be engaged in activities that develop higher level thinking skills as they work together to increase their knowledge and develop social skills.

Stay-TunedAsk your child what he or she is studying, and look in the homework folder/student agenda every night and Friday Folders every Friday.  The homework folder is where you will find any homework that needs to be completed.  Homework is copied on Mondays in the student agendas. Our Friday Folders will contain any important flyers and also sometimes graded work that is to be signed and returned to school.

****Visit our website and take a special look at the Parent/Student Share page where you will find a weekly newsletter sharing class academics and happenings.

Ask Questions:  Please feel free to call or email me with any concerns or questions.  I welcome feedback!

I realize that teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous responsibility. I will do my best this year to ensure that each student has a motivating and safe learning experience in the classroom. However, I cannot do this alone. I need your help. We both need to be partners in the learning process. I need each of you to encourage your child at home by helping to ensure that they have completed their assignments, and help them study for quizzes, if necessary. I know with your help that we are going to have a great year!
